BJ SERVICES SELECTS AT&T TO HANDLE INCREASING NETWORK DEMANDS WITH $7.2 MILLION CONTRACT
HOUSTON, October 27, 2004 - AT&T has won a $7.2 million integrated networking contract from BJ Services Co., a leading provider of pressure pumping and other oilfield services to the petroleum industry. The three-year agreement renews and expands a long-standing relationship between the two companies.
BJ Services, which was ranked atop the oilfield services category of Fortune magazine’s Most Admired Companies list, reaches customers in most of the major oil and natural gas producing regions of the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
AT&T will upgrade BJ Services’ network while expanding a networking solution that integrates more than 85 locations in the U.S. and overseas. The AT&T solution ensures that BJ Services’ network satisfies growing bandwidth demands while remaining reliable and secure.
Having reliable access to constantly updated information is critical for BJ Services. The company works with massive amounts of data needed for engineers around the world to react quickly to opportunities. Ultimately, through this round-the-clock exchange of information, BJ Services’ network helps its customers extract oil and natural gas more efficiently.
The AT&T networking solution is based on frame relay. Additionally, AT&T will provide domestic and international long-distance, and update and refresh BJ Services’ network equipment, handling deployment and configuration.
AT&T is integrating BJ Services’ networking services through its industry-leading AT&T Business Network (ABN) offer. ABN consolidates multiple services into a single contract with a single bill, offering discounts across all services and growth incentives. In addition, through the secure AT&T BusinessDirect® portal, BJ Services gains online access to tools that provide real-time reports on network performance and direct access to AT&T’s ordering, status, inventory and trouble management systems.
