CHICAGO, Jan. 2, 2006 – The Harvard Black Alumni Society, a national not-for-profit organization, has launched a new interactive Web site powered by the Tendenci association management software application to strengthen its efforts to cultivate a sense of alumni community amongst black graduates of Harvard University. The new site, www.hbasonline.org, integrates numerous user-friendly features to enhance the online experience and communications of alumni and help manage the organization’s growth.

In addition to its old static Web site, the Harvard Black Alumni Society has used Yahoo! Groups for more than five years as a way to encourage interaction online. With Tendenci, the organization has incorporated interactive forums into new Web site, along with an easy-to-use online application and payment process, online event management and a fully automated online membership directory.

Together, these features enable alumni to share knowledge more effectively.

With eight local chapters, the Harvard Black Alumni Society considers the Internet to be critically important in connecting with the black alumni community, regardless of location. Tendenci breaks down geographic boundaries with a built-in Content Management System that enables multiple site administrators to easily add and edit content without the inconvenience of going through a Web site administrator.

“Our board and alumni are spread throughout the country, so the fact that Tendenci enabled distributed administration of the Web site as well as encouraged collaboration between users and administrators was key,” said David Anderson, Technology Chair of the Harvard Black Alumni Society. “The new site also makes it easier than ever for our users to become dues-paying members, which will be essential to accelerating our growth.”

To assist the organization’s marketing efforts, the new Web site also features automated search engine optimization functionality to make it more visible to major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

Tendenci association management software is developed and marketed by Houston-based Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a leading worldwide provider of Web-based solutions for associations and other membership organizations.
