Atos Origin Joins Chemical Information Technology Council (ChemITC)(TM)

HOUSTON, January 11, 2007 -- Atos Origin today announced it has joined the Chemical Information Technology Council (ChemITC)™ as an Affiliate member. ChemITC, a forum for companies in and associated with the American Chemistry Council to address common Information Technology (IT) issues, is a CHEMSTAR® Panel of the American Chemistry Council.

"ChemITC looks to its Affiliate members to help advance IT solutions for the chemical industry and values the knowledge and experience that Atos Origin brings to its efforts," said David Kepler, chair of the ChemITC Executive Board and senior vice president of Shared Services and Environment, Health and Safety, and Chief Information Officer at The Dow Chemical Company. "The involvement of a leading international IT services company such as Atos Origin is sure to benefit the chemical industry."

ChemITC was established in March 2005 to bring chemical industry IT leaders together to further IT solutions that support the industry''s ability to deliver products and services essential to society. A variety of market dynamics are driving chief information officers (CIOs) of chemical companies to examine the role of IT in supporting business objectives. For instance, the industry''s heavy merger, acquisition and divesture activity in recent years has left many chemical companies with multiple, incongruous IT systems.

Companies also face the need for e-commerce integration, environmental health and safety compliance, and streamlining IT operations. According to recent AMR Research, increasing competition in the chemical market is challenging chemical companies to become more innovative with specialty products, and to offer services that augment commodity products.

Atos Origin, which offers extensive industry experience and a pragmatic, results-oriented project methodology, has the solutions and services that enable chemical companies to address these key issues. The company serves numerous clients in the chemical industry.

"We look forward to working with CIOs involved in ChemITC to assist in strengthening the industry''s ability to advance IT solutions that enhance chemical companies and our national economy," said Paul Stewart, CEO of Atos Origin North America. "There is a growing recognition of the essential role technology plays in helping maintain the chemical industry''s competitiveness through increased automation and business connectivity."

Recently, Atos Origin announced it is working with SAP America, Inc. to deliver an enterprise resource planning (ERP) packaged solution designed specifically for mid-market chemical companies. The solution is designed to meet the business needs of mid-market chemical companies, including value-added implementation, system hosting and additional proprietary functionality. Atos Origin underwent a thorough process to become accredited by SAP to implement the new solution.
