Ed Schipul to Present on the New Media World to PR Pros at Regional Conference

HOUSTON, April 3, 2008 - Ed Schipul, president and CEO of Schipul - The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), will present "Social Media Optimization: Putting the Relations Back in PR," at the upcoming Southwest District Conference of the Public Relations Society of America. Schipul's presentation will educate PR pros from throughout the Southwest United States on the Internet's role in this "new media world."

"Interactive channels on the Internet, such as blogs, wikis, podcasts and online videos make up the Social Media that connect groups of people who share similar tastes, interests, affiliations and agendas," said Schipul. "Public Relations counselors must learn how to navigate and capitalize on this parallel universe of business and social environments."

Social Media channels, which enable and encourage users of a Web site to participate in information exchange, are playing an increasing role in shaping business identities, furthering political campaigns and more. During Schipul's presentation, participants will learn what Schipul describes as "The Four Pillars of Social Media Success." They will also examine how to launch a Social Media Optimization initiative for the first time, including steps on how to assess opportunities, identify Social Media leaders within the organization and ethically promote the effort.

Schipul will lead the 60-minute breakout session on the last day of the conference titled, "PR in the New Media World," on April 11, 2008 at noon.

Schipul - The Web Marketing Company serves associations around the world with the Tendenci association management software (www.tendenci.com).
