Mental Health America of Greater Houston Selects Tendenci® CMS Platform

Website upgrade makes it easier for people in need to navigate the mental health care system

New website from MHA HoustonHOUSTON, August 6, 2012 – Following an exhaustive review process, Mental Health America of Greater Houston has selected Tendenci (www.tendenci.com) content management system (CMS) to power its newly upgraded website, www.mhahouston.org. The website was designed by Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com). It features a clean look that makes it easy to quickly access the organization’s resources, stay up to date on the latest mental health care news and review the calendar of upcoming education and training opportunities.

Mental Health America of Greater Houston’s website is powered by Schipul’s hosted Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Tendenci product, which is listed on AWS Marketplace to simplify deployment and management on Amazon EC2. The website plays a major role in accomplishing the organization’s mission of enhancing the mental health of all Houstonians and improving the lives of those with mental illnesses. The website connects the organization with people in need as well as with mental health care providers, serving as the hub of collaborative education, outreach and advocacy activities.

“Finding help on mental health care and understanding the system is sometimes a challenge, so with Schipul – The Web Marketing Company’s help we redesigned the website to make it easier for people seeking help to find it,” said Traci Patterson, director of communications with Mental Health America of Greater Houston. “To keep people coming back, we keep the information on the website fresh, which is easy to do with the Tendenci CMS video gallery, photo album and home page rotator features.”

Tendenci CMS was designed specifically for non-profit organizations (NPOs) and associations. Earlier this year, Tendenci was released as an open source product to gives NPOs such as Mental Health America of Greater Houston greater control. The Tendenci Open Source download is available at https://github.com/tendenci/tendenci.

Mental Health America of Greater Houston uses Tendenci’s events management capabilities to organize and promote education and training events with an easy-to-update online calendar. To satisfy the curiosity of website users, the site offers a photo album featuring dozens of photos showcasing the important work the organization is doing. And Tendenci makes it possible for website users to donate online by clicking the purple button that is prominently visible throughout the site.

Tendenci CMS has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for nonprofit organizations and associations around the world, including Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org), Komen Houston (www.komen-houston.org) and Metropolitan New York Library Council (www.metro.org).
