Aaron Long of Schipul – The Web Marketing Co. to Discuss Mobile Apps for Museums at InterActivity 2011

Mobile apps can empower museum visitors, unlock new possibilities

ACM.jpgHOUSTON, May 18, 2011 – Aaron Long, a partner with Schipul - The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), will participate in a panel discussion, “Mission Mobile,” at InterActivity 2011, the annual conference of the Association of Children’s Museums. The event, which attracts representatives from children’s museums across the U.S., is hosted by the Children’s Museum of Houston

Apps for smartphones can be a great way to connect with patrons, deliver helpful information and even provide incremental revenue. Long and his peers will challenge conference participants to consider how mobile apps can enhance a museum visit, amplify the power of exhibits and make the experience more social.

“Many museums think of mobile apps as a way to push information out to their community, but they can also be invaluable in encouraging interaction to offer a more enriching experience for users while helping museums improve,” said Long. “We’ll also look in the opposite direction, where museums can benefit from utilizing mobile marketing technologies like Gowalla and Foursquare in place of developing a custom app.  The world of interactive technology for museums is diverse and full of opportunity, regardless of budget.”

Schipul provides Web marketing and social media services to the Children’s Museum of Houston, which was recently named the best children’s museum in America by Parents magazine based on a survey of its peers.

Joining Long on the panel will be Henry Yau of Children’s Museum of Houston, as well as Rick Berg and Donna Butcher of Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose. The Mission Mobile panel is scheduled Saturday, May 21st at 10:45 at the Hyatt Regency Houston.
