PUBLIC RELATIONS FIRM LAUNCHED BY ISSUES MANAGEMENT VETERAN

HOUSTON, August 4, 2003 – Public relations agency veteran Dan Keeney, APR, has launched a new Houston-based public relations firm, DPK Public Relations. The firm will focus on organizations seeking to protect and enhance their reputations while coming to terms with a looming or current threat.

DPK Public Relations provides issues management, crisis planning and response services, executive-level writing and media relations. The firm has formed a strategic alliance with Schipul Technologies (www.schipul.com) to offer Web design and consulting services.

“The bond between businesses and the public – whether they are shareholders, employees, customers or neighbors – is tenuous, but not broken,” said Keeney. “DPK Public Relations will capitalize on opportunities to repair and strengthen that bond by providing each client the highest quality of marketing solutions and issues management services.”

With nearly 20 years experience in public relations and journalism, Keeney brings exceptional value and a focus on achieving meaningful business results to clients of DPK Public Relations. A former network radio journalist, Keeney most recently was vice president, general manager of Fogarty Klein Monroe Public Relations. Prior to coming to Houston, Keeney worked at Conkling Fiskum & McCormick in Portland, Ore., a firm specializing in public affairs, issues management and crisis response. He started in public relations serving clients in the energy, health-care and professional services sectors with Ketchum Public Relations in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Keeney is a four-time winner of the prestigious Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in public affairs and crisis communications, and is the president-elect of PRSA’s Houston Chapter.
