Grammy Award Winner Brave Combo to Headline Brewery''s Annual Oktoberfest Celebration

HOUSTON, Aug. 6, 2007 - Time for the autumn harvest and a little polka. Technically, it may still be summer, but Saint Arnold Brewing Company is mixing up a batch for Oktoberfest, the annual celebration revolving around great-tasting, full-flavored beer. Saint Arnold, the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is preparing for the 10th anniversary release of its award-winning Saint Arnold Oktoberfest seasonal.

Saint Arnold Oktoberfest is true to the Oktoberfest tradition, blending three different types of Munich-style malt to provide a rich, caramel flavor and using two central European noble hop varieties: Czech Saaz and Hallertauer. One of Saint Arnold Brewing''s five seasonal beers, Saint Arnold Oktoberfest is a full-bodied, malty, slightly sweet beer that pours a reddish-amber color.

"Our annual re-introduction of Saint Arnold Oktoberfest carries on the longstanding tradition of the world''s premier beer celebration," said Brock Wagner, founder of Saint Arnold Brewing Company. "Our inspiration came from the robust beverage originally brewed in Bavaria to celebrate the fall harvest, so for 10 outstanding years, we have been pleased to offer an authentic taste of Bavaria, right here in Texas."

Saint Arnold will be making 600 barrels of Oktoberfest this year, a 50 percent increase over last year. Oktoberfest was introduced into the brewery''s rotation of seasonal offerings in 1997 and has been judged among America''s best. It was recognized with the Bronze Medal in the Scottish Ale category at the Great American Beer Festival in 2001 and 2000.

Set to be released by mid-August as stock of the brewery''s Saint Arnold Summer Pils seasonal are exhausted, Saint Arnold Oktoberfest will be available on tap and in 12-ounce bottles sold in six-packs and cases. It is sold exclusively in Texas grocery and liquor stores, bars and restaurants.

Saint Arnold Brewing will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration at the brewery on Oct. 18 and 19 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Two-time Grammy Award winner Brave Combo will headline the event, offering a highly danceable repertoire of polka, waltz, mambo, two-step, merengue, ska, stroll, foxtrot, Muzak, twist, ondo, tango, bossa nova, zydeco and rock.

Tickets to Saint Arnold Oktoberfest are $50. Attendance is limited, so call Ann Crivello at 713-686-9494 for early reservations. A high-resolution photo is available for download here.
