HOUSTON, November 13, 2003 – Mary Calvin, who has owned and operated Cabinet Studio for 23 years, will manage a new venture, Cabinet Innovations, opening January 2004. Cabinet Innovations will be located in the Decorative Center Houston, 5120 Woodway, Suite 219.

Cabinet Innovations works in partnership with clients to design kitchens, bathrooms, home offices and entertainment centers.  The 2,000 square foot Decorative Center Houston location will feature custom cabinets from Wood-Mode® and Brookhaven®. Cabinet Innovations also will introduce a new custom line from Westridge of Canada for projects that are in need of a smaller investment.

Cabinet Innovations will install most of its projects. “It is far easier for our clients to let us take responsibility for the details required for a quality installation,” said Mary Calvin, manager of Cabinet Innovations.

The Cabinet Innovations team also will fabricate and install wood, granite, marble, soapstone, Silestone, Avanza and Corian countertops.

“With our new location in the Decorative Center Houston we have created an environment in which interior designers, architects, builders, contractors and homeowners all feel welcome,” said Calvin. “Whether it’s remodeling or new construction, residential or commercial, the Cabinet Innovations team has the knowledge, tools and experience to ensure a perfect fit that balances beauty and function.”

The cabinet business is hot, bolstered by the popularity of home remodeling and low-interest refinancing. One of the hottest categories is custom bath furniture and Cabinet Innovations will feature an original collection of handcrafted sink bases for the bath. This collection features solid wood bases crafted in cherry, walnut, cypress, alder wood or oak that are produced to the highest standards in the United States, England and Italy.

According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association, sales of kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities increased 8.9 percent in June 2003 (the most recent period for which figures are available) compared to the same month a year earlier. The survey reported that year-to-date sales through June 2003 were up 9.1 percent over sales during the same six-month period last year.

“We have a high regard for what Mary Calvin has been able to achieve in her 23 years in the cabinet business serving Houston’s interior designers, contractors, architects and homeowners,” said Alton LaDay, director of marketing and design services for the Decorative Center Houston. “We expect Cabinet Innovations will be a valuable contributor to our mix of showrooms and offices.”

Cabinet Innovations’ hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additional information is available at www.cabinetinnovations.biz or call 713-461-6424.
