Bit6 Expands Beta SDK Support and Releases New Communication Features

Momentum builds as Bit6 races towards mid-summer production launch of platform

HOUSTON, May 28, 2014 – Bit6 (www.bit6.com), a communications-as-a-service platform provider that revolutionizes how developers integrate communications into their apps, today issued its latest beta release, adding features that include video messaging and real-time notifications for iOS and a new SDK for Web platforms. It also announced its selection to present at the Service Provider Innovation Forum (SPIF) of the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley.

On the heels of the iOS SDK beta that was launched in April, Bit6 is announcing the release and immediate availability of the JavaScript SDK, which supports Web applications.  Both the iOS and JavaScripts SDKs now support app-to-app messaging, real-time notifications and voice or video calling. With Bit6, it is easy for app developers to quickly add features that enable user-to-user communications across smartphones, feature phones, tablets, and web browsers.

"Now that we are close to our mid-summer launch date, we are moving at blazing speed to meet this unmet market need," said Alexey Goloshubin, CEO and CTO of Bit6. "The momentum is driving us to work tirelessly to build out our SDKs and features while we gain traction with mobile and web developers."

Among the milestones Bit6 is announcing today, the latest Bit6 beta release includes:

  -  WebRTC-based voice and video calling for iOS and Web platforms

  -  Real-time status updates, notifications and presence detection for iOS and Web platforms

  -  JavaScript SDK to support voice and video calling and text messaging for Web applications

  -  Sample Web app for developers

Developers can see all the current platform features at http://demo.bit6.com/.

In addition, the SPIF of the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley has selected Bit6 to present to its carrier members at its service provider forum in Palo Alto on May 30th.  The SPIF is a group of representatives from wireless and wireline carriers' venture capital and R&D divisions who meet monthly to review new technologies, products, and companies. By being selected to present, Bit6 will be considered for nomination to the 2014 SPIFFY Awards for outstanding telecom startups.

Bit6 provides developers access to a communications-as-a-service platform that takes all the complexities of building a communications stack from scratch and simplifies it down to several straightforward lines of code.  Developers do not need any additional infrastructure, software, or licenses to utilize these services, which dynamically scale up or down as needed.

The Bit6 platform is a proven real-time cloud-based communications platform that already powers Voxofon's mobile and Web applications. Using the Bit6 platform, Voxofon developed capabilities that allow free app-to-app texts and calls across any iOS, Android, Windows or Blackberry device and enables inexpensive calling and SMS messaging to any phone number including feature phones and landlines. Each month, the platform supports millions of calls and messages across more than 200 countries.

This beta release continues what Bit6 expects to be regular releases that will increase functionality and add support for more platforms.  Bit6 is targeting the full-production launch of its communications platform by mid-summer 2014.
