Saint Arnold Brewing Co. Wins Silver Medal at Great American Beer Festival

Saint Arnold Summer Pils, the Texas Brewery’s Summer Seasonal, a Favorite of Judges

GABF Medal for Saint Arnold BrewingHOUSTON, October 13, 2008 – Saint Arnold Brewing Company (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, has once again impressed the judges at the biggest beer competition in the United States. Saint Arnold Summer Pils came away from the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver with the Silver Medal in the Münchner-Style Helles category.

The Great American Beer Festival, the 27th annual competition, featured the biggest selection of beers assembled at one time in the United States. 127 judges spent three days last week evaluating 2,902 beers and picking the best entries and top breweries. Saint Arnold was one of 472 breweries that entered. Organizers say that a sold out crowd of 46,000 craft brewing enthusiasts attended this year’s festival.

“Being not just passionate brewers but craftsmen as well, we always strive to brew our beers at the highest level of quality.  This is why it is so satisfying to earn this recognition from our peers throughout the craft brewing industry,” said Brock Wagner, founder of Saint Arnold Brewing Company.

Saint Arnold Summer Pils is brewed every spring and available during the summer months throughout Texas. It is a crisp, delicately flavored Bohemian-style pilsner that features fine German pils malt and two central European noble hop varieties: Czech Saaz and Tettnanger.

This is the third time Saint Arnold Summer Pils has earned a silver medal at the GABF in this category.  It previously won in 2003 and 2005.  The brewery has now won a total of 12 medals at the GABF over the past 10 years.
