HOUSTON, May 27, 2004 – AT&T today announced a $10 million, three-year contract to integrate the various networks of Atlas Copco’s businesses in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The AT&T solution will provide data and voice communications for more than 10 companies and about 9,000 employees.

Companies joining this contract include Rental Service Corp., Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp., Atlas Copco Compressors Inc., Chicago Pneumatic Tool, Atlas Copco Canada, Atlas Copco Mexicana, and Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems. Integrating its networks enables Atlas Copco to gain operating efficiencies while reducing costs.

"We had a variety of communications providers in North America, which we wanted to reduce as part of our server consolidation strategy," said Mark Cohen, president of Atlas Copco North America. "After a four-month study, AT&T was the overwhelming choice among all the companies, offering the best combination of service and pricing."

As an example, Rental Service Corp., one of Atlas Copco’s largest units, uses the AT&T wide-area networking solution to provide high-speed connectivity to its 475 locations, supporting online applications that track the company’s inventory of more than 150,000 rental assets. The AT&T network also supports RSC’s trial of a delivery tracking system that helps dispatchers pinpoint delivery times of large construction equipment to customer job sites.
