New process removes sun damage, visible veins and other skin imperfections

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS, JAN. 24, 2006 – Scientists have yet to invent a time machine, but Houston area men and women who have resolved to look and feel better in the New Year do have new high tech help. Meridian Medical Dental Executive Healthcare has added the Palomar StarLux Pulsed-Light System to treat patients who live with visible spots and veins on their face, chest, arms and other areas.

The RejuveLux™ Photofacial process is able to clear sun damage, age spots, rosacea, small red blood vessels and other conditions in order to improve skin tone and texture. During RejuveLux treatments, pulses of light are directed onto the skin and absorbed by the melanin in pigmented areas and the blood in visible vessels. This process disables the cells that produce excess pigment. These dead cells are naturally shed by the body, leaving behind fresh, unblemished skin.

“There is intense demand for quick and effective ways to improve appearance, particularly among Baby Boomers and people whose skin has been damaged by the sun,” said Dr. Liza Leal, medical director of Meridian Medical Dental Executive Healthcare. “The RejuveLux Process is remarkable in its versatility.  It essentially erases the signs of time and my patients could not be more thrilled.”

Like a laser, the pulsed-light treatment process uses an intense beam of light, but it is designed to combat the effects of aging and damaged skin in a softer, gentler way. It also can cover a larger body area with each pulse than a laser can.

As pulsed-light and laser technologies have grown more effective and easier to use, aesthetic laser procedures have become mainstream in recent years. The Millennium Research Group predicts that more than 4.4 million aesthetic laser procedures were performed in the U.S. last year, up nearly 70 percent from 2002.

The treatment process can make a fantastic lunchtime get-away. Most patients report minimal to no discomfort, many even apply make-up one hour after the procedure. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, contact Dr. Leal at 281.265.6565.
